New World

Factions are formed by large groups of followers dedicated to controlling Aeternum. After reaching level 10 in New world, you must choose one of the three factions, the Marauders, the Syndicate, and the Covenant.

Each Faction has a different reason for and way to control Aeternum and all factions work against each other to get resources, power, and influence across Aeternum.

“Living examples of the credo “might makes right,” the Marauders are a ruthless military force bent on establishing a free nation where anyone with the strength and determination to stake a claim can do so.”

“Working in the shadows and dealing with secrets, members of the Syndicate use their boundless guile and intellect in pursuit of forbidden knowledge.”

“Divine champions who are driven by conviction and their faith in the light of the Spark, the Covenant fights with righteousness and justice for the struggling souls of all living thing.”

Once you choose a Faction listed above you can go ahead and join a company (basically a guild) that is in that particular faction. You are also free to create and build up your own company.

Why Join a Faction

You will want to join a faction as soon as you are able at level 10. Factions give you the benefit of obtaining missions that get you extra XP, Gold, Reputation and Faction Tokens.

These tokens are used to get special armor, weapons and consumable items. As you earn reputation you gain levels in your faction.

The higher you are in a faction, the better the rewards you can buy with your tokens.

If your faction is able to gain control of a territory your cost for workshops and fast travel are cheaper. You can also contribute to completing town missions to help upgrade settlements. An added benefit is as you climb levels in your faction, you get rewards and components for crafting.

It is even more beneficial for your faction to be in control of multiple territories as the more territories owned by your factions, the more effective your attacks are on enemies, the more resources you gather, the better in quality your crafting will be, and the better your RNG when looting.

What you do in a Faction

When you enter into the faction of your choice you get access to Faction Missions, the ability to supply arms and armor, and you help your faction gain control of territories. As a member of a faction you also play a role in War by recruiting your fellow faction members to defend or attack territories held by enemy factions. You can also choose to help others defend or attack, even if you are not in the same company.

If you do not like how a company in the same faction is treating your territory, you can choose not to help them defend and hope they loose their territory to another faction. Once that happens you can attack and win that territory back yourself.

Faction Missions

To get Faction missions you just need to find your faction rep in any settlement and open the Faction Board.

PVE missions are often missions asking you to kill a certain amount of creatures, crafting items, or acquiring resources. Completing a PvE Mission rewards Faction currency and reputation, which can be used to purchase special faction-only equipment and items.

PvP Missions are often missions asking you to do things like recover data, become a messenger, deliver items, and patrol areas.

It’s important to note that accepting a PvP Faction mission will flag you for PvP. You cannot unflag yourself without abandoning your PvP mission. You only get one shot at completing the missions. If you die, you must go back to your faction rep and chose a new mission.

Completing a PvP Mission also gives Influence for your Faction within that Territory. This means you can either reinforce your factions control or undermine an opposing factions control and potentially make them vulnerable to war.
