In ESO, Magicka Nightblade PVE DPS can be some of the best damage you can have join you in any endgame pve content. Here is a build to help you in starter content as well as the very end game difficult content.

Race:

  1. High Elf (Best for Magicka Focused Damage)
  2. Breton (Best for Magicka resource Sustain)

Mundus Stone:

  1. The Apprentice (Flat Spell Damage)

Attribute Points:

  • 64 – Magicka

The Build:

Sets:

  1. Zaan’s
    • This is some of that DPS butter on the bread for this build. Zaan’s is definitely more of a Single Target DPS focused set that POURS pain when it fires up…. get it… fires up… cause it’s a fire beam…
  2. Spell Strategist
    1. An absolutely great amount of damage against a single target, complimented by maximum Spell damage and Maximum Magicka
  3. (Perfect) Mantle of Siroria
    • Mantle of Siroria is hands down one of the best choices for Magicka DPS, as it purely stacks a great amount of damage to keep up those high numbers.
  4. Maelstrom Lightning Staff
    • This is obviously a bit of luck and RNG combined to acquire, but really tops of this build nicely I found. Only run this on your ONE bar.

Set Side-Notes:

  • Spell Strategist is great, but if you feel like you’re having sustain issues, swapping it out for Spinner’s is still a viable option.

Basic Build:

Sets:

  1. Ilambris / Grothdar
    • A monster set that is VERY easy to grind for in Crypt of Hearts I, and provides a flat out AOE Flame Damage proc around your character, handy for close-quarters combat DPS. Grothdar is acquired in Vaults of Madness, and is another great fire damage set to try out.
  2. Julianos
    1. Flat. Out. Damage. This is the set that is easy to craft (or buy) and simply gives a great damage boost.
  3. Spinner’s / Mother of Sorrow
    • Both of these sets have proven to be VERY effective on this build, and people always like choices. Whichever you can afford or are willing to grind for, these are great sets to acquire without being forced into end game trials.

Set Side-Notes:

  • Remember, if you have LOADS of AP to spare, you might want to try your luck at the Cyrodiil Regional vendors, that provide an RNG based crate system, 5000 AP per crate, containing ONE set piece from a specific region. You MAY get purples, but more than likely lots of blues. Just another way to get gear.
  • With this setup I achieved a consistent 25k-30k DPS, not bad at all for a Basic Set. I was able to run it through all the Veteran dungeons no problem, but don’t expect to be the top DPS dog in dungeons.

Veteran Maelstrom Build:

Sets:

  1. Valkyn Skoria
    • Zaan’s is definitely best for Single Target damage, but Valkyn Skoria is a massive reason why I survived, because it has your back. When you’re fighting hordes of enemies, it’s great to have the Valkyn proc raining down and providing that boost of damage.
  2. False God’s Devotion
    1. FINALLY, the Vicious Ophidian for Magicka. This is going to make VMA for Magicka classes EVEN EASIER now. Basically, in short, tons of great sustain and damage.
  3. Bahraha’s Curse
    • Not EXACTLY Briarhearts for Magicka, but a very close second. This is just for an AOE Damage that also heals you for the percentage done. Very nice for survivability, probably what carried me through my flawless run, to be honest.
  4. Maelstrom Lightning Staff
    1. Now, of course you need to DO Maelstrom to get this before you have it, but once you acquire one of these bad boys THAT is where the fun begins. Definitely a fantastic damage buffed staff for Magicka DPS

Set Side-Notes:

  • RESOURCES ARE IMPORTANT, therefore, prismatic is important. Making sure you have all the bonus amounts of health, magicka, and stamina where you can, can determine whether you win or lose. Prismatic might be expensive, but you need those resources
  • Bahraha’s Curse Jewelry: why? Simply because Bahraha’s is a proc for your front bar that doesn’t COMPLETELY require a constant uptime to take advtange of, much like Briarhearts. Plus, False God’s Devotion armor might be easier to acquire. ALSO, Bahraha’s is Heavy, you want at least 5 light.

Food:

  • Witchmother’s Brew (Cheaper but no Health Recovery)
  • Clockwork Citrus Filet (More expensive, but has Health Recovery)

Potion:

  • Essence of Spell Power
    • (Lady’s Smock, Cornflower, Water Hyacinth)

Technique:

This build relies a LOT of consistent uptime of your buffs, because not only do your buffs add to your DPS, they make this whole setup incredibly chill to play while still hitting pretty high numbers.

With that being said, here is your rotation:

Merciless Resolve > Bar Swap > Elemental Drain > Light Attack > Twisting Path > Light Attack > Crippling Grasp > Heavy Attack > Unstable Wall of Elements > Bar Swap

This is where your MAIN damage and burst comes in:

Light Attack > Degeneration > Light Attack > Spectral Bow > Heavy Attack > Swallow Soul Weaved with Light Attacks > Bar Swap

Obviously you throw your ultimate into the rotation when you’re able to, and make SURE that you use the best ultimate for the situation. Fiery Rage is hands down one of the most BEAUTIFUL DPS boosts you’ll ever witness, and should be used most of the time BUT Soul Tether is super helpful for pretty good DPS but GREAT healing.

Conclusion:

As a Magicka Nightblade PVE DPS build, you remain VERY heavily on maintaining the max amount of DOT focused siponing attacks as possible, all while weaving consistent light and heavy attacks to keep up damage. When you can get into the flow of always reading the uptime of your abilities, making sure that you don’t accidentally reset them MID duration, you can easily hit upwards of 60-70k DPS in trial groups (Which translates to around 35-45k on the practice dummies SOLO). A very fun build to use and play around with!

How do you have Unstable Wall of Elements and Elemental Blockade at the same time?

    Kevduit · May 15, 2019 at 2:43 pm

WHOA! Thanks for catching that, it was supposed to be Energy Orb.
