Welcome to Aeternum young crafter, I see your eyes sparkle at the site of the forge and unique items that can be created there. Take heed and follow my guidance and you will become a master at your craft.
Crafting Basics
From the moment you set foot in Aeternum you are faced with trials and tribulations, and to overcome these you will need to find resources to begin crafting the items to ensure your success. This makes the trading and crafting skill a powerful tool to not only aid your allies, but to also turn a profit. Now to become a successful crafter, you have to start at the basics, gathering. Now don’t rush off too quickly, the tools required to gather recourses don’t just appear out of thin air.
Starting Tools
There are 5 tools that you will need before being able to start gathering the endless amounts of resources in Aeternum. Let the scavenger hunt begin to search (or buy) the needed materials.

Gathering Skills
Since you don’t get an endless supply of materials to just start crafting away with you will need to obtain your resources yourself. This means either being a Mr. Money Bags and purchasing what you need or going out and gathering it yourself. Gathering has 5 skills that you can level up each specific to the different crafting materials. Here are the 5 gathering skills and how to level them up:
Gathering stone and ore
Gathering animal hides
Felling trees and gathering wood
Catching fish
Gathering fibers and certain food items.
As you level each skill you gain abilities to assist in detecting resources and even find special resources that can modify the items you craft. With each gathering type their are
Refining Skills
Now that we know what gathering skills there are, its time to take the next step. Each gathering skill correlates directly to a refining skill, almost like they were born to be together. here are the 5 refining skills and how to level them up:
Leveling these skills will make you more resource efficient, giving you a change to gain extra resources when refining.
Crafting Skills
With a plentiful supply of refined resources we can finally focus on creating your masterpieces. Well, after you’ve leveled up one of the SEVEN crafting skills. Each crafting skill line focuses on using the resources you’ve refined to their maximum potential, so when you start out you’ll want to be careful what skills you start with so you don’t use up a certain resource.
Crafting melee weapons, uses ingots to make weapons.
Crafting hard and soft armor, uses ingots, leather and cloth to create armor.
Crafting trinkets, uses ingots and gemstones to make jewelry.

Leveling up your crafting skills will not only allow you to make more powerful versions of the weapons but also unlock more recipes to craft.
Crafting Equipment and Gear
Regardless if your weapons and armor are crafted or collected from defeating powerful foes, all of them have a “gear score”. With crafted items, the equipment’s gear score is based on your crafting level. So a beginner weaponsmith’s Iron sword will not be nearly as powerful as a master weaponsmith’s blade. This system applies to Weaponsmithing, Armoring, Jewelrycraftering, and Engineering, the more time you spend leveling up each skill the higher the gear score will be when crafting.
These gear scores are determined when crafting, every crafted item uses a primary material and a secondary material. The primary material this determines the items base gear score, so using iron or steel will have a starting point for your gear score. To increase the chance of an item having a higher gear score you want to combine it with a higher level secondary material, this would be either the wood or leather.
Gemslots and Perks
Anytime you craft equipment, both armor and weapons, you have a small chance of creating an item with a unique perk or a socket for a gemstone. These are both random but you can take control and increase the chance of creating these powerful upgrades.
Now you can use Azoth to increase the chance of your crafted item to have a perk, gemstone slot or even both. The more azoth you use per craft, the higher the chance is, but there still isn’t a guarantee.
Their are also a TON of special resourses out there that you can gather that will allow you to decide exactly which perk you are adding to an item you’re crafting. Using these will guarantee a special perk related to the resource, so getting to know the resources will be key.
Furnishing
The houses in Aerernum just don’t feel quite at home without filling it with top of the line furniture and a few special items that really add to the value of your home. Luckily for those home owners who don’t want to become master Furnishers their is a large variety of furniture that can be crafted from the beginner level. Now you if want your house to do more than just look nice then you’ll want to upgrade your furnishing skill up. Master furnishers are able to craft storage chests and trophies to be placed inside houses.
Trophies add a unique buff to the player when they are placed inside that players home. The buffs range from combat to crafting boosts, depending on the trophy type and the crafting level used to create it but being able to craft these will make anyone want to level up their furnishing skill.

Crafted Items Vs Dropped Items
High skilled crafters have the possibility to craft items that can sometimes rival the items found in Aerernum. Though crafted items can be more powerful, they are not as impactful as the skills of the players and how they have managed their Attributes and Mastery builds.
There are many possibilities for crafters in New World. Whether you want to be an explorer, digging through remote and dangerous areas to gather resources, or become the king of the forge to make the most powerful weapons that can turn the tides of war, you can leave your mark on Aeternum.
